Vintage Chevron

While in Louisville, KY last week with my husband, we visited the local Goodwill. For all you thrifters out there, I highly suggest when you go to a new city you check out the local thrift shops. It’s amazing what you can find! For instance, I bought this adorable vintage skirt with this awesome chevron-esque print. Whatever woman owned this skirt back in the day was way ahead of the fashion curve. I often think about the people who used to own my clothes and wish I could meet them. I wonder what adventures they had while wearing the same item and what adventures I will be able to add to its story.

As much as I love this skirt, I’m not totally in love with how I styled it. I think the black is too harsh with the playful print. It’s amazing how once I see a picture of the outfit I thought was so awesome, I end up not digging it as much as I thought I would. So, for you readers, how would you suggest I style this skirt? I realize it’s a bit summery so maybe I should save it for next season? I’m also considering shortening it by a few inches and maybe taking in the waist so it could be higher on my torso. Thoughts? Suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it!

  2. I live in Kentucky, Star!! I’m just about an hour away from Louisville – in Lexington! :)

This skirt is such a fun find! I think if you leave the length the way it is then I’d definitely take in the waist so you can wear it higher. I think a big contrasting belt would be fun, too!

No way, Jordan! That’s awesome! I really loved visiting!

I think you might be right, bringing in the waist will bring it up so maybe I don’t need to shorten it. I don’t want to unintentionally ruin it so that’s probably a safer move!

  3. Oh, what a great skirt! I absolutely love it and actually probably would have paired it with black also. But, maybe with a cream sweater and burgundy tights?
