So I have a general hatred for dress pants. I think I equate them to stuffy boring professional wear that is just not my style! But since my boss instated our new dress code and it’s been FREEZING outside, I’ve had to pull out my dusty dress pants from the back of my closet.
Do any of you have advice for styling work pants in a way that doesn’t seem too businessy?
Outfit Breakdown: red cable knit sweater, Ann Taylor Loft (thrifted) $2.99 | brown dress pants (0ld), sears $14.99 | leopard scarf, TJMAXX $9.99 | belt, from another dress | cognac heels, Steve Madden (thrifted) $2.99
How strict is the dress code? I’d go for colorful or printed pants if you can!
I love cigarette pants and trousers, but my dilema is trying to use the dress pants I already own. You know…give them new life! Maybe it’s just not possible.
I think you’re doing a great job already. You have great fashion sense, so I’m sure you’ll be able to work something out
You look fabulous! Love this

Thanks a mil, Emily!!
I wear dress pants often, just because they are easy. Dress pants + fun shirt is my go to. Or if you can wear dresses/skirts stick with that…ive been expanding my dress collection because work pants get old fast lol!
I have SO many skirts…it’s bad! Generally I’m a skirt or dress gal, but on some cold days pants are just necessary! I will have to go back through your pant pics for inspiration!
you look lovely as usual! love your hairstyle!

Star, I just adore the look of red and leopard print together!! You seriously rock red so much. And that lipstick! Fab! May I ask what brand it is??? And your up-do is so darling. Ok, lets be real I just love it all! Hope all is well with you Star, thanks for all the fashion inspiration xo
Hey girl! Thanks for all your sweet remarks! You are too kind!
This lipstick is my fav and it’s super cheap! It’s the brand Elf that you can buy from Target and it comes in a long plastic tube.
I feel you on the dress pants! But you make these look amazing!

Super sweet, you are, Kacie!
You look so pretty in red! And I think you did a great job of styling these pants.
Thanks a mil, Gracey!
I used to buy “dress pants” because I thought I needed to, but then I found J.Crew’s Pixie Pant. The comfort of a legging but the thickness and support of a real pant. I LIVE in them now! Swoooon! You look adorable though! And you’re wearing leopard print – my fave! It’ll be making an appearance on Opal & Violet tomorrow, too!

I will have to check out the Pixie Pant! We don’t have a JCrew nearby so I’m not sure on their sizing. Maybe I’ll have to watch for an online sale and just try it out!!
i am so excited to follow you! i hope you follow back so we can stay in touch.
your style is FABULOUS!
Thanks, Rachael! Let me know your blog link and I’d love to follow you too!
I have a hard time with dress pants too — lately I’ve been into a more tailored, slim leg with a high waist — the shape felt more natural to me after years of skinny jeans!
I love the more tailored looks too! I just don’t want to waste the ones I already have. Maybe I should try altering them to be more tailored!
Star, I love this all mint look! Mint is such a nice colour and of the trend I’m excited for in spring (like mint and pink!). You look beautiful and you always get fabulous finds! I can’t wait for Target to open here in Canada hehe xo
Thanks, girl!!
Love the colors!!!
